Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem like lovely people. Netflix dropped "Pearl," an animated children's series Meghan created through her and Harry's production company, Archewell Productions, before it even premiered. The audio-streaming company signed a deal with Harry and Meghan in 2020 reportedly worth $20 million. As Michael Pachter, a managing director at Wedbush Securities who's covered movies, entertainment, and tech for two decades, explained, it's because they've still got that $100 million deal. A public breakup with Meghan and Harry may also be a mess Netflix doesn't want to deal with.

The couple declined to say which unnamed royal had made the remarks, although Winfrey later clarified it was neither the late Queen Elizabeth nor her husband Prince Philip. Harry, the younger son of King Charles, said in a subsequent 2023 TV interview, neither he nor Meghan had accused anyone in their family of racism. But a new book about the royals written by journalist Omid Scobie has brought the issue back to the fore, making front page news again Britain this week. KING IN DUBAIIn his TalkTV show on Wednesday, the royals allegedly involved were also named by British broadcaster Piers Morgan, a vocal critic of Harry and Meghan. Neither Buckingham Palace nor any of the royal family's offices have commented on the book, but the Daily Mail said officials were considering all options, including legal action.

NEW YORK (AP) — Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are hosting a conference Tuesday in New York City on how the internet and social media affect youth mental health. The event — held on World Mental Health Day — is being coordinated by Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation and is part of a second annual mental health awareness festival hosted by a nonprofit called Project Healthy Minds. In the United Kingdom on Tuesday, Harry’s brother, Prince William and his wife Kate also participated in a separate forum to draw awareness to young people’s challenges with mental health. During their last public appearance in New York City, Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, set off alarms when they claimed they had been dangerously pursued by paparazzi in a “near catastrophic car chase” in Manhattan. That led New York City Mayor Eric Adams to condemn the paparazzi chasing them as “reckless and irresponsible.”Political Cartoons View All 1206 Images

CNN —Spotify executive and popular podcaster Bill Simmons has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, labeling them “grifters,” after their multi-year partnership with Spotify ended on Friday. “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation,” Simmons said on his self-titled podcast Friday. I have got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. John Nacion Imaging/ShutterstockCNN has reached out to both Archewell and Spotify for comment on Simmons’ remarks. Simmons previously criticized Harry in a January 2023 episode of his podcast, saying that he was “so embarrassed” to share Spotify with him.

Spotify and Archewell Audio, the production company started by Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, have ended their partnership less than a year after her podcast, “Archetypes,” debuted on the platform, the companies announced on Friday. The companies said in a joint statement that they had “mutually agreed to part ways” and were “proud of the series” they made together. It was unclear what led to the decision or whether the podcast would continue on another platform. A spokeswoman for Archewell, a charitable foundation started by the couple, did not immediately return a request for comment on Friday. Although Harry and Meghan’s future with Spotify is uncertain, the couple has other business ventures — namely their multiyear deal with Netflix, which will see them make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

LONDON — Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, were expected to level stinging new criticisms at the British royal family in the second installment of their Netflix documentary series, which was released Thursday morning. "I wasn’t just being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves," Meghan says. The trailer shows Harry on board a plane, which he describes as a "freedom flight." Prince Harry and Meghan attend day two of the Invictus Games on April 17, 2022 in The Hague, Netherlands. Harry and Meghan are clearly keen to tell the story of their relationship and their rift with the royals from their perspective.
LONDON — A British charity led by a Black woman who says she was repeatedly pressed for information about her nationality by Prince William’s godmother, has suspended some its operations over safety concerns, it said Saturday. Sistah Space, which provides support to domestic violence victims of African and Caribbean heritage in London, made the announcement in a post on Instagram stories. “Unfortunately recent events meant that we were forced to temporarily cease many of our operations to ensure the safety of our service users and our teams,” it said. It added that the charity was “overwhelmed by the amount of support and encouragement and looks forward to fully reinstating as soon as safely possible.”NBC News has approached Sistah Space for further comment. “My team, family and I have been put under immense pressure and received some horrific abuse via social media,” the statement said.
At the start of their new, much-anticipated Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” the Duchess of Sussex — the woman formerly known as Meghan Markle — is asked what her motivations are for creating the documentary. The Oprah interview won Harry and Meghan a swell of support, but also prompted some audience anger. The royal family today must constantly justify its existence in the modern world. This is understandable: They’ve been out of the royal family for almost double the amount of time that Meghan spent within it. Harry and Meghan still have the potential to be a unique hybrid of unofficial statespeople, philanthropic ambassadors and celebrities with a near-celestial kind of star power.
Prince Harry with Meghan Markle appeared in public together for the first time at the Invictus Games in Toronto. Aside from showing the story of their courtship, the six episodes of “Harry & Meghan” also look set to highlight long-running grievances that have roiled Britain's royal family for years. The British tabloids have intensely scrutinized Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, publishing stories about her estranged family following her engagement and marriage to Harry in May 2018. In addition, Harry is challenging in court a decision by the British government to deny him police protection while in Britain. “In the Netflix trailer it’s implied the photographers, including me, were trying to get a shot of the royal couple — but that’s nonsense,” he told the tabloid.
NEW YORK — Prince Harry’s memoir, an object of obsessive anticipation worldwide since first announced last year, is coming out Jan. 10. “For Harry, this is his story at last.”The memoir’s title is an apparent reference to Prince Harry’s being a royal “spare,” not the first in line to succession. William, Prince of Wales, is next in line. The 416-page book will come out in 16 languages, from Dutch to Portuguese, and also will be released in an audio edition read by Prince Harry. “Penguin Random House is honored to be publishing Prince Harry’s candid and emotionally powerful story for readers everywhere,” the global CEO of Penguin Random House, Markus Dohle, said in a statement.
The death of Queen Elizabeth II has "been a complicated time" for Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, she said in an interview with Variety published Wednesday. "I’m really grateful that I was able to be with my husband to support him, especially during that time," Meghan, 41, said. Meghan and Harry traveled from California — where they decamped after stepping back from royal duties in 2020 — to the U.K. to attend the queen’s funeral following her Sept. 8 death. During their trip to the U.K., Harry and Meghan also reunited with Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, at Windsor Castle to pay tribute to the queen and greet mourners. The couple share two children: Archie, born in May 2019, and Lilibet, born in June 2021, who is named after the queen, whose family nickname was Lilibet.
